What are RGN$G and RGN$R?
Consider the following:
> .Machine$double.xmax
[1] 1.797693e+308
> log(.Machine$double.xmax, base=2)
[1] 1024
> 2^(log(.Machine$double.xmax, base=2)-1)
[1] 8.988466e+307
> 2^log(.Machine$double.xmax, base=2)
[1] Inf
