[R] question about window and inserting value

I have the following time series:

2003  0.55 -0.01 -0.54  2.27 -1.29 -0.23  0.09 -0.50 -0.61

>#For the March 2001 value:
>window(x.ts,start=c(2001,3),end=c(2001,3))

Error: couldn't find function "window<-"

Is there a good way to insert the value into the March 2001 location, 
please?
other than:
x.ts[15] <- 10
