[R] three button mouse? or mouse modifiers?

Is there any way to get R to recognize a three button mouse
or a mouse click with a modifier, like control-left mouse
or meta-leftmouse
or shift ?

I need more control in my graphics screen and
I would rather not go the xgobi route.
