[R] Windows R 1.8.0 hangs when Mem Usage >1.8GB

Could you compile up and try R-devel (see the FAQ)? It probably will cope
with more than 2Gb, and I've run it up to 2.5Gb.
Note that an effective limit of 1.7Gb is mentioned in the rw-FAW.
