1. Using chron:
require(chron)
chron( paste( z[,2], 1, z[,1], sep="/" ) )
2. Using POSIXct:
ISOdate( z[,1], z[,2], 1 ) # relative to GMT time zone
or
ISOdate( z[,1], z[,2], 1, tz="" ) # relative to current time zone

I have a matrix in which the first column is a four digit year, and the
second column is a 2 digit month.
How do I convert the matrix to a date function, please?
