[R] R under Sun Solaris 8

Hi,

I have installed R1.6.2 on a Sun Sparc workstatioin 60 under Solaris 8.
I' m using csh, tcsh or bash- shell.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to use the "arrow-up" key  on  Sun's
German keyboard to repeat a R command by using this key.

Always following syntax error occurs:
^[[A

Does anybody have a hint ?
