[R] R crash with internet2.dll

Hi,

I'm using:

platform i386-pc-mingw32
arch     i386           
os       mingw32        
system   i386, mingw32  
status                  
major    1              
minor    5.1            
year     2002           
month    06             
day      17             
language R              

and I would like to apply: 
> update.packages()
trying URL `http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/PACKAGES'
unable to connect to 'vevprx21.nestec.ch'.
Error in download.file(url = paste(contriburl, "PACKAGES", sep = "/"),  : 
        cannot open URL
`http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/PACKAGES'

Having a well working Internet Explorer 5 on my NT and it sounds as the
perfect solution 
for my problem to rename internet2.dll to internet.dll, to avoid the entire
proxy configuration. 
Doing so, R crashes!
What is wrong with internet2.dll?
