[R] Congrats to Brian, Bill, and Peter

Congratulations to Bill Venables and Brian Ripley for their latest "tour de 
force" - MASS 4, which just arrived in my mailbox last week.  As always, 
the book contains new pearls of wisdom to improve my statistical and 
programming skills.

Kudos also to Peter Dalgaard for his "Introduction to Statistics with 
R".  It is a delightful volume that I can recommend to all those students 
who simply want to use R for basic statistics but don't want/need to go 
into the subtle and sophisticated data management techniques offered by 
R.  The beauty of Peter's book is that it very subtly entices the good 
student into Bill and Brian's book(s), as well as the core teams 
well-written introductions.

I hope that our purchase of these books helps to demonstrate to the three 
of them how much we (I) genuinely appreciate the time and effort they have 
put into making R (and S-Plus) my (and my students) statistical software of 
choice.

Congratulations on a job well-done.
