[R] General "moving" functions

Something like this perhaps?

foo <- function(x, FUN, lag)
{
        FUN=match.fun(FUN)
        n <- length(x) - lag
        y <- numeric(n)
        for (i in 1:n) {
                y[i] <- FUN(x[i:(i + lag)])
        }
        return(y)
}
