I was trying to read in an spss .por file, but was having difficulties
doing so. Is this still a valid operation that R can perform?

ps (I did library(foreign, then read.spss("filename") and I get:
Error in read.spss("/net/home/morrism/Data/CPS/Por/mar98.por") :
        Error reading portable-file dictionary.
In addition: Warning message:
Bad character in date. )

Thanks,
Jason
