[R] R hangs up unexpectedly

The memory available is fine. It is about 45 to 50%. Also the available 
memory in R is fine, by the output of memory.size() (even though I cannot 
run it after it hangs up... :-) ). My RAM is 256MB.
I have upgraded to R1.5.1 as suggested by another user, but the problem 
still persists.

Thanks again for any additional suggestion on how to solve the problem.
