[R] trouble using R Mathlib as standalone

Ok. But...

1) I would like to use -pedantic to catch non-portable C++ constructions
(I'm a beginner in C/C++).

2) I need to use the R mathlib library, and don't know of any alternative,
short of writing the functions myself.

Is there no way to get these to play nice together? How about a wrapper or
something. I've no idea, short of something crude like commenting out the
declaration of log1p in Rmath.h, which might cause other problems.
