[R] plotting maps?

It is possible if you had installed the library "maps".
Once attached, you can plot maps (see help(map)).
Then the function points() (in  the base package) permits you to overlay
points on the maps (see help(points))
The library is (was at least) available at

ftp://ftp.mcs.vuw.ac.nz/pub/statistics/map/
