Odp: [R] graphics in batch mode

As I understand it is possible to make plots an save them to a file with for
example dev.print(),
but no on-screen graphics device is opened. Like in:

hist(rnorm(100))
dev.print(png, file="foo.png", width=300, height=300)
dev.off()
