[R] Map data

Hello,

I am interested in trying to make relatively simple map plots (low/medium
resolution world and continental) with cylindrical, conical, azimuthal and
singular (i.e. Bonne, Sanson-Flamsteed sinusoidal and molweide)
projections on which I can overlay atmospheric data (contours, points,
polygons).  I found a reference to a map library by Barry Rowlingson but I
cannot seem to find it on CRAN.

Does anyone know of a similar or updated map package?
