An example of exactly what you do could be helpful. 

I don't really know the drivers for MacOS, but the usual issue with
saving from screen display to files is if the dimensions are slipping.
Essentially, you should try to ensure that the height, width, and
pointsize are the same, or at least in proportion. Plotting directly
to postscript could help too.
