We need more information: for a start, which R -- the Carbon or the Darwin
one, and in what way it is crashing.

I have been using R 1.3.1 regularly on OS X (10.0.4 and 10.1) and it
hasn't crashed yet.  It *is* impossible to interrupt on OS X (a known
bug).
