Users of Eudora should be aware that when one uses the "reply to all"
command, Eudora inserts a reference to the original author at the top
of the quoted section, but when one uses "reply to sender" it does
not. I made the wrong choice--inadvertently omitting the reference
from the top of the quoted section. I apologize, and will be more
careful.

The additional information is much appreciated.

I have since tried libpng 1.0.12 (also the binary from
sunfreeware.com); it didn't work either. I didn't find a 1.0.11
binary. At this point, even if I found a 1.0.11 binary, I doubt it
would work.

The libpng website does, however, have a link to the Solaris binaries
at www.sunfreeware.com

I never had any doubt it would work, of course. Looks like I have to
give up on using somebody else's binaries.

I agree.

The signature section of your message was included in the quote. But
I agree that proper attribution should include the reference at the
top, and will make sure to do so in the future.
