[R] image() with each grid point equal to one pixel?

Not using R graphics. You can resize the X11 device window, and
the graphics will resize. The internal code for image() plots polygons
for each cell (`grid point'?).
If you look at the number of bugs fixed since 1.2.0 you might want to
upgrade.
