As a grateful and delighted user of R and as a subscriber to the R-help
mailing list for over a year now, one thing which has amazed me is the
the prolific, often instantaneous and seemingly round-the-clock
assistance offered by Prof. Brian Ripley. This made me ponder, how does
he do it? Surely giving lectures, attending Faculty and College meetings
and activities of daily living must sometimes hinder his ability to
