| Hello All:
Hello Andrew,
| Amazon is now at this very moment selling "S Programming" at
| $59.95 with 2-3 days delivery. Some one among us ought to
| exploit R to develop a forecasting model to predict when next
| Amazon markets Venable and Ripley's book again at $17.95.
Fascinating. However, my name is spelt with an "S" at the end. The name
'Venables' has an interesting history, with which I am about to bore you.
It is an old name that came to England with the conquest. There is, in
fact, still a little town called 'Venables' just outside Rouen in France
where it all started. It is connected to other names such as "Venning" and
"Ventner" which share with "venison" a derivation from an older word meaning
"hunter" or "hunted game". In fact one branch of the family did change the
name to "Hunter" when they stopped using French and started using English,
but we never did. Now I know the American branch of the family does
occasionally shave off that critical final "S", (probably an Ellis Island
thing), but (and this is the point) we don't. It's "Venables", OK? Say it:
"Ven-a-bleS". Thank you.
It's alright, I feel OK again now.
Hurrumph.
