[R] {R} 1.4.0 compiling failed on sun sparc solaris 2.6

Hi!
I tried to configure and compile R 1.4.0 on a
sun sparc solaris 2.6 box using the sun compiler (workshop 6?);
but:

same settings (in config.site)
configures and compiles without problems for
a sun sparc solaris 2.7 box. odd.
but I need the solaris 2.6 version...
if I tried something stupid,
any hint is welcome!
