The "2001 International Conference on Health Policy Research
(ICHPR): Methodological Issues in Health Services and
Outcomes Research," will be held at the Boston Logan Airport
Hilton, December 7 - 9, 2001. The ICHPR provides a forum for
discussing research needs and solutions to the methodological
challenges in health services research. Its specific aim
is to create the interface for methodologists and
sophisticated health service researchers to exchange and
build upon ideas. The conference will focus on methodology
for health services research with applications drawn from a
wide range of subject areas.
The conference is sponsored by the Health Policy Statistics
Section (HPSS) of the American Statistical Association.
The deadline for contributed abstracts is September 17, 2001.
Detailed information, including a pdf format conference
brochure, is at
http://depts.washington.edu/psasa/hpss/ichpr2001.html/.
The Invited Program will cover several technical areas
including hierarchical models, longitudinal data,
causal inference, techniques for assessing quality of care
and for profiling providers, techniques for inferring
disparities, decision making, data mining, and survey design.
The techniques will be illustrated across a variety of
substantive areas, including but not limited to: mental
illness, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The
