Yes. It had been in Devel for a long time until a week or two ago. There
were licensing issues with it.

I think funfits has been superseded by fields on CRAN.
I believe the functions you mention were from the S original and not
operational in R. R lacks the perspp function used with S's persp to add
to plots.
