I just wanted to point out that cpp in RedHat 7.0 seems to be broken
through-and-through. Other programs I try to compile fail with
same/similar messages, and I've got it on good authority that the gcc
shipped with RH7 is a development snapshot that is still a work in
progress.  I also hear that the cpp in the gcc cvs source tree has fixed
these sorts of problems and if we don't get an RPM update from RedHat
pretty soon, I will issue one myself.
