It's scheduled for early December. If we release more frequently than
that, we find ourselves in the situation that polishing the code off
for a release gets in the way of introducing new features.
If you want to try the newer versions, daily snapshots are made
available via CRAN (http://cran.r-project.org). As these are not
release versions, they may (hopefully temporarily) have bugs,
sometimes bad ones, but most of the time the snapshots are perfectly
usable. You do need to compile them yourself, though.
