Perhaps you could give the reference for us?  Jim Lindsey has some related
libraries not on CRAN (AFAIK): see the FAQ.  But I read S-news and cannot
find any reference there to R libraries for GLMM (aka packages).  Jim's
libraries do not cover the case discussed on S-news, as I understand it.
