It's pretty well dead, or at least dormant, as a strategy for embracing
the entire R interface, but Guido Masarotto did up some packages for
accessing the tcl/tk functionality from an R process. These packages
sit in the Devel section of the contrib area at CRAN. There's a rather
nice example of what you can do included.
