[R] R for the Mac

I used to use a Mac but switched to Linux when I decided I'd had enough of
MS Word and a way-behind version of R.

If you have a PPC Mac, one idea is to install linuxppc on it. You can have
a Mac partition, if you still want to use MacOS sometimes.
