Is there something more elegant than
xlevels<-as.numeric(levels(factor(x)))
to get the levels found in vector x? xlevels will be used
to generate
a contour plot as in
contour(xlevels,ylevels,zvals)
where zvals<-tapply(z,list(x,y),mean)
