[R] Math and symbols in titles of plots

It *was* a bug in the 0.64.1 R version, but not anymore.

(we *do* fix bugs quite a bit!... as you can see in "BUGS FIXED" parts of
 the NEWS file (and you can also see in the announcements of new R
versions))
