I'm pretty sure a PostScript version of R-notes sits around somewhere
...<checking>... yup. 3rd item under "R Documentation" at CRAN! You
can read that easily (to the extent that getting the reader to work on
Windows is easy) using GSView.

(And it *is* easier with Linux - "gv Rnotes.ps.gz" - and lots of
things are easier, but then again there also lots of things that would
be completely new to you... Rule of thumb: If you have the choice,
shift if you need to do programming in C or need Unix tools. Or if
you're attracted to it for other reasons than your productivity of
course...)
