[R] Wanted: online Introduction to R

I do think that there is an audience for a gentle introduction to R -
namely those people that need to use (sometimes quite sophisticated)
stats, but are neither good mathematicians nor good programmers. People
who stopped using SPSS because they moved to Linux and discovered that
something like R was freely available.

I suppose most of these people are social scientists or linguists like me,
who moreover need a slightly different subset of R than that which
is emphasised in the very helpful notes provided by various Stats departments.
(Yes, another way of learning about R - at least for me - was to
go hunting for class notes based on R :) And I've got a nice thick
folder of them by now.) For example, I'm currently making a list of R features
that might be useful for evaluating questionnaires and more categorical data
analysis.

I'd be happy to exchange mail about this with fellow scholars and R-users; maybe we
can put together a small set of notes (R for Dummies) someday.

Have a nice weekend,

Maria Wolters
