If I may be so bold, I offer RPMs for R that will run under RH6 (if you
install the hdf5 data format as well).  These have been prepared for the
Swarm user community because we use the hdf5 data format along with R.
SO, if you want to try the RPM for R on a RH6 system, I have it.  In
order to use this, you will also need to install the hdf5 RPM that is
available in the same place.  TO find them, go here

http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/Swarm

and look in a subdirectory that has a name like RPMSforRH6-glibc2.1.

Good luck, these are for R0.64.0, and soon I'll upgrade to 0.64.1.
