I suspect you are right. Its more gs issue than an R issue. I will give gv
a try.

PostScript, bounding boxes, and paper orientations are tricky issues.
"gv" gets this one right. I suspect that the trouble is that gs
doesn't really know what to do with the metacomment
%%Orientation: Landscape
so it assumes that the paper is portrait and displays it like that.
