There is a now a working (passes pkgcheck) version on my site which will
be mirrored to CRAN tonight. (For the desperate .../pub/RWin/mclust.zip
and see below for the ...)

Thanks to Karl for the hint. The difference was not the compiler but that
he was using an alternative run-time system. To use this package you need
MSVCRT.DLL to be installed on your system: it is not supplied, but is
widely available.
