[R] need help installing ESS on Win95

I do suggest you try NTemacs 20.3.1.  There is support for rw0633 in
ESS 5.1.3 and later, but I find 5.0 also works: you just need to set
--ess rather than --no-readline.  This is actually in the readme and
in rw-FAQ.

I think ESS Qs will get a better response from the ess list: Tony Rossini
will I am sure tell you more, including where to get help. I am no ESS
expert, but I was the one who add ESS support to R for Windows.
