Not likely. Unless of course the packages installed with a broken g77
start acting up on you. They'd do that anyway of course.

I'd consider a reinstall of egcs/g77/binutils from scratch.

...at least there you can stare people in the face and claim "this
works" and they'll never find out when it doesn't...!
