R-beta: R port of spatial library from MASS

The R version of the spatial library from 

  Venables W.N., Ripley, B.D. (1997):
  Modern applied statistics with S-PLUS, Springer
  (second edition)

is now available at CRAN. (spatial_VR5-2.tar.gz)

It is based on the latest Version (Dec 1997) of VR5.tar.gz available at 
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Sbook/

This port supports the same range of functionality as the original S version,
that means, it contains both the kriging and the point pattern analysis code.

It will only compile (and run) with R version 0.61 and later.

I tested it successfully with R 0.61 on a linux machine.
