R-beta: Fig driver for "R"?

- and as to the original question, two things:

(a) Many of the recent changes in the graphics system in R were done
with a strong view to making it trivial to do the fig-format output.

(b) (For the meantime) Other people have reported good experiences
with the pstoedit program, available in the .../contrib/applications
section of ftp.x.org and its mirrors. You also need Ghostscript for
this.
