As soon as Mike Meyer can get to it, I've asked him to make
some minor changes in the S archive so that I can make it clear
that permission for porting the Hmisc and Design libraries to R is
denied. I don't have anything against R personally as a subset
of S-PLUS. I just have only so much time and I don't want to spend
any of it helping R users when I have no plans to install R myself.
Also, the Hmisc library is highly fluid, so any port of Hmisc to R
would have to freeze it at some point in time.
I learned recently that Design has been ported to R. But Design
requires the Hmisc library to work fully, and permission to port
Hmisc to R has been denied for a while now.
This is a personal decision so please don't start a thread about
this in s-news or send me any E-mail discussing this. Thanks for
your consideration. I have no financial relationship with MathSoft
by the way.
