R-beta: Latin-1 characters in R and X --> in next version

This seems to be wandering in and out of the sources. The snapshot
I've been using does

- but I'm pretty sure an *earlier* one (0.49?) did do Latin1. How
about adding this to your set of regression tests, so that it becomes
possible to detect whenever the source tree gets modified?

And BTW, yes, your message became "malformed quoted printable" because
of the =-=- pattern in the footer. May I suggest we quietly change "="
to "+" or "~" (while equally quietly cursing the MIME standard mess...)
