R-beta: unix failure in windows R ?

Install Linux and use the *real* version?
I'm only half-joking there. Of course I realize that some people won't
want to install an alternative operating system, because they'll never
figure out how to use it. Or think that they won't. Unix is too
complicated, etc. On the other hand, Unix is the main development
platform for R, and Linux (or FreeBSD for that matter) provides what
is to all intents and purposes a Unix for the PC.
