R-beta: R: Installation problems on Solaris

I tried to install the software on Linux and on Solaris. 

The compilation procedure is ok on Linux, but when I run the
"configure" executable shell script on Solaris I get

checking for osf sprintf bug... configure: error: You can't cross compile R

I don't know what to do with this.
