Hi everyone, hi Kevin,

a quick update: the R-Forge team at WU Wien has now decided on a timeline
for the transition of R-Forge to a read-only site.

- Until the end of 2026: R-Forge continues to work as normal. Project
pages, SVN, package builds, mailing lists, forums, and logins still work.

- Starting from January 2027 (exact date tbd): R-Forge switches to
archive-only mode. All SVN repositories continue to work (via SSH only)
and a static snapshot of the web page is preserved. That means that
existing projects can be viewed but all other functionality will be
disabled (registering projects, package builds, mailing lists, forums,
logins).

- From January 2028: SVN switches to read-only mode. Existing repository
history remains available, but no further commits can be made to any
codebase.

This information will also be sent out to all R-Forge users in the next
days.

Additionally, I have written up a few notes about how to transition from
R-Forge to Codeberg (or some other Git-based service like GitHub or
GitLab):

Best wishes,
Achim
