This came in while I concurrently wrote a longer reply -- that, inter alia,
included a reference to the one-line lookup on the debian/changelog timestamp
via the (Perl-based) dh-r plugin R.pm. There is no R code involved there
anyway, but Perl would of course have similar time parsing abilities. If
someone wants to patch that, the dh-r authors will likely take it. Otherwise
it may be easier in to pick that up R's tools package.
