Hi all,
I'm somewhat familiar with the MXE/rtools codebase myself (and submitted a few patches a year or two back) and am happy to help out with maintenance if desired. I've also been messing around with the extremely-early-beta gcc WoA patches that are (allegedly) supposed to hit with gcc 17 and am looking forward to being able to get aarch64-win out of the perpetual-beta stage!
Feel free to reach out at any time.
-Andrew

The passing of Tomas Kalibera is indeed a shock and a loss to all of us, and the entirety of the R community, even further. I used to read his blogposts on (now) https://blog.r-project.org/ and they were a gift.
On the concern you bring up, I do remember Jeroen Ooms being the maintainer of Rtools.
And from one day to another, this changed. I never saw an explanation of this decision,
or anything. Maybe R-Core could ask Jeroen Ooms to do this again?

Hello.
Tomas Kalibera's passing is tragic on many levels. He was
youngyounger than most of us long-time members of this list, I
fearleaving a family and children bereft. He leaves many friends;
some personal, some virtual. And practically, he leaves a hole in
R-core, especially when it comes to Windows-related development,
maintenance, and debugging.
I apologize if this is too soon, but with his tragic passing, has
R-core decided on who will be the point-person/lead maintainer for
Rtools and other Windows-related issues?
Thank you,
Avi
