[Rd] plot(1:3) malfunctions with par(bg='transparent')

well,  "transparent" is even default... and I definitely can NOT
see a problem with the above.

and definitely not what you describe.

Can you give more details than the sessionInfo below ?

such as if you are running R inside Rstudio, or ???
