[Rd] R CMD check --configure-args?

R CMD INSTALL takes a --configure-args argument, but I cannot see how to 
pass the same values in R CMD check, which returns a:

Warning: unknown option ‘--configure-args=...

(R 2.13.0). What am I missing?
