[Rd] Building R from the source

thank you very much for your reply.

I'm currently trying to build R-2.4.0 from the source on a system  
(Xeon) running Fedora Core 4.

As for the available compilers: gcc/g++/gfortran/f95 (version 4.0.0-8)
